About Us

Boston Harmony World Music Chorus

Boston Harmony is open to new members in all voice parts for each new season at any rehearsal weekend through January. Boston Harmony chorus

The unauditioned world music community choir, in its eleventh year, is led by the dynamic team of Patty Cuyler & Larry Gordon—the co-directors of Vermont-based Village Harmony— and is open to teen and adult singers of all singing experience. Because our rehearsals are not weekly but rather one weekend each month, the group includes singers from all over New England, with local Boston-area singers offering overnight housing for our many members from western Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Our repertoire of authentic, challengingworld music includes dance-songs from South Africa, folk polyphony from the Balkans, Caucasus Georgia and Corsica, and traditional American shape-note songs, folk arrangements, and gospel quartet songs.

Fluent music-reading and prior singing experience, while great assets, are NOT necessary to participate. Singers may join the chorus at any rehearsal through January.

Boston Harmony monthly rehearsals are held at the Masonic Hall on the green in Concord, MA. We share potluck meals Saturday night/Sunday mid-day. Housing is easily arranged for people from out of town. Saturday rehearsals are 2-8pm and Sundays are 10:30am-3pm.

Next year we will have two weekends in February and none in March as both Larry and Patty will be out of the country. Patty will return in early April and we will resume with a final rehearsal weekend in April followed by a performance on April 17 at NEFFA and concerts in the Boston region and in western Massachusetts, dates and times TBA.

Rehearsal weekends are:

- September 26 (Saturday only)
- October 24-25
- November 14-15
- December 12-13
- January 9 (Saturday only)
- February 13-14
- February 27-28
- April 9-10
- Saturday, April 16: Performance at NEFFA in Mansfield, MA
- Late April concerts in Boston/western MA, TBA

Tuition for the year is $250 for adults and $200 for teens.

Reductions are available if needed; contact us directly.
You can also come to your first rehearsal on a trial basis--but you must let us know you are coming ahead of time.

Map and Directions to the Masonic Temple, Concord MA

From Route 2 Westbound

Continue until Route 2 takes a 90 degree turn to the left at the bottom of a hill next to a Mobil station.

Go STRAIGHT at this intersection aprox 4 1/2 miles.

At the first and only stop sign (just past the Concord Museum), the road ends at an angle. Turn/bear left and continue into Concord Center - aprox. 1/2 mile.

Monument Square is a small green common with an obolisk in the middle. The Colonial Inn is directly ahead of you. Continue around Monument Square passing the turn off for Lowell Road.

The next building is the Christian Science Church and the Masonic Temple is next to the church.

Parking: On Saturdays you can park behind the Christian Science Church. On Sundays, Christian Scientists use the space and have asked that their parking lot not be used by non-members (even though it will look fairly empty). Either park on the street on in the municipal lots.
