The General Plan for the Year
We will be preparing over a concert program for a series of New England weekend concerts and an April two-week tour down the East Coast as far as North Carolina. If we have more people wanting and able to go on the tour than we have space (25 maximum), people will be chosen to go based on...
- attendance at rehearsals
- seniority in VH
- vocal part (if you are a tenor, you win big here)
- other musical-related stuff
Larry will be at the September rehearsal weekend and then will be gone touring in Germany/UK until Thanksgiving. He rejoins us at the December rehearsal.
The fall semester and first part of the winter-spring will be open to everyone interested--it might actually be a pretty big group, which is ok. At some point in the late winter we will winnow the group down to the tour group, and that group will rehearse several weekends alone to prepare for the April tour.
Other Fall Rehearsals and Events
Friday, September 30-Saturday, Oct. 1
30th Annual New England Sacred Harp Convention, Newton, MA. Patty will be organizing a trip down from central Vermont. This is optional but be guaranteed there will be great singing and the food at the potluck on Saturday will absolutely ROCK. Here is another time that you can offer housing overnight, if you live in the Boston area.
October 15-16
VH Rehearsal weekend, place to be announced.
Thursday, October 27
Anchiskhati Ensemble (a great! men's choir from Tbilisi, Georgia) early evening workshop and evening concert at Bethany Church, Montpelier, part of tour organized by Larry and sponsored by Village Harmony.
November 19-November 20
VH Rehearsal weekend, place to be announced.
December 3-4
VH Rehearsal weekend. Larry will be back and will join us. We may actually want to start this rehearsal on Friday night, December 2. Location to be announced.
The winter and spring schedule for Village Harmony will be announced later. Now is the time to submit to us potential conflicts YOU may have from January-April and we may be able to schedule rehearsals around them to a certain extent.
There will not be a Christmas-to-New Year rehearsal this year and we will not be singing at First Night. Sorry if this is usually a highlight for you.
